Benjamin Bowen is an outstanding student in the PCTI STEM Academy of Computer Science. His passion for technology has been evident since childhood, his natural affinity for math and science led him to pursue computer science. Reflecting on his choice, Benjamin shared, "Since I was a young kid, I always felt like I had a connection with technology, where my peers and family struggled to understand. It always made sense to me, and since I had an easy time in math and science courses in middle school, I thought computer science would be the best option."

Being named Student of the Month is an exciting and unexpected honor for Benjamin. "It's surprising, most of all. I feel like we have so many great students in our senior class, so although I was surprised to be picked, I’m very honored. Everyone has been working so hard over the past four years, and to get recognition for that is amazing," he expressed. His academic excellence is reflected in his impressive 4.3 GPA.

Beyond academics, Benjamin has been involved in extracurricular activities at PCTVS. He is a dedicated member of the Gifted and Talented Club and has competed at the varsity level in both winter and spring track, as well as on the football team. His time in athletics showcases his determination and teamwork.

Outside of school, Benjamin enjoys balancing his studies with time spent with family and friends. "Whenever I’m not focusing on studies, the most important thing is spending time with my friends and family. My friends and I spend time playing video games, but I also like reading. I live near a lake, so I enjoy swimming and kayaking as well."

Looking toward the future, Benjamin aspires to study computer science in college, though he is also open to the possibility of exploring physics. "The dream might be to double major in computer science and physics. After college, I want to get my master's and see where my career takes me in the industry. I want to study physics because it’s interesting to me," he explained.

Reflecting on his time in the STEM Academy, Benjamin credits the program with much of his academic success. "STEM has been at the core of everything I’ve been able to accomplish because they put me on a path that helped me get as far as I did academically, taking on all the challenging courses. The environment at STEM pushes everyone to work hard and stay accountable. Some of the teachers, especially Dr. S and the physics program, made learning more fun and inspired me to keep striving for excellence."

Benjamin also has some words of wisdom for his peers and future students: "Whatever you do, you should do with everything you have. And as long as you're able to put everything you have towards that, it will work out."

Congratulations, Benjamin, on this well-earned recognition as Student of the Month!

Diuny Luna is a dedicated student in the PCTI School of Cosmetology and Barbering. While her long-term career aspirations lie elsewhere, she chose this career and technical education (CTE) program as a steppingstone for her future. "When I was choosing a CTE I wasn’t sure what would align with what I wanted today, so I chose the program that would give me the opportunity to work during college while I pursue my actual career," she shared.

Being named Student of the Month is a rewarding experience for Diuny, who is grateful for the recognition. "It’s amazing—it’s such a wonderful opportunity," she expressed. Her commitment to academics is reflected in her impressive 4.2 GPA.

Beyond her studies, Diuny has been actively involved in several extracurricular activities at PCTI. She is a member of the Book Club, Manga Club, and Future Educators Association, demonstrating her diverse interests in literature and education.

Outside of school, Diuny dedicates her time to helping others succeed academically. "I tutor a lot in math, mainly classmates. It started with people asking, 'How are you doing well in this class?' and I would just explain it to them. Then they’d ask, 'Can you tutor me?'" Her passion for mathematics extends beyond tutoring, as she also enjoys challenging herself at the gym as part of her after-school routine.

Looking ahead, Diuny has ambitious plans for her future. She aspires to earn a Ph.D. in Mathematics, with a strong passion for calculus driving her toward a career in education. "I love calculus so much that I plan on becoming a professor," she said enthusiastically.

Reflecting on her journey at PCTI, Diuny acknowledges the personal growth she has experienced. "Coming here made me so much more social. I came from a very small school,so transitioning to PCTI was a big shock—especially after virtual learning. Freshman year was the first time I was really out and about. I used to be introverted, but this experience has helped me open up."

Diuny also shares some words of encouragement for future students, reminding them to "Branch out and step outside your comfort zone."

Congratulations, Diuny, on this well-earned recognition as Student of the Month!

Judith Krajnik is a dedicated student in the School of Business Careers at PCTI. When deciding on a career and technical education (CTE) pathway, she appreciated how business provides essential skills that are applicable across many industries. "When I was in middle school, I had no idea what I wanted to do, but I learned that business teaches you a lot of useful skills and knowledge that you can apply anywhere in life. It also opens up job opportunities and different career paths to explore."

Being named Student of the Month is a rewarding experience for Judith, who has worked tirelessly throughout her four years at PCTI. "It feels amazing. I feel like I’ve worked really hard in high school, and it’s nice to see that effort being recognized in this way." Her academic achievements are reflected in her impressive 4.2 GPA.

In addition to her studies, Judith is actively involved in various clubs and extracurricular activities. She is a member of PCTI Craft for Good, the World Language Honor Society, the ASL Club, and the Astronomy Club, each of which reflects her diverse interests.

Outside of school, Judith enjoys a range of activities that keep her engaged and active. "I play tennis and ski, and I go fishing with my dad a lot. I'm also a big reader and enjoy art when I have the chance, even if it's just a hobby." She also dedicates time to helping others by tutoring both younger kids and high school students in math and science. Additionally, she worked as a camp counselor, where she discovered a passion for working with children.

Looking ahead, Judith has ambitious academic and career goals. She plans to attend a four-year college and possibly extend her studies to earn a master’s degree and, eventually, a Ph.D. "I plan to study chemistry, but I want to combine it with business so I can work in areas like hazardous materials, waste management, and pollution control within the business and manufacturing industries."

Reflecting on her time at PCTI, Judith acknowledges the profound impact the school has had on her personal and academic growth. "PCTI has been such a big part of my life. I’ve made a lot of friends, and I’m grateful for the diversity of interests, skills, and personalities among both students and faculty. Being in a vocational school has really shaped the way I think and has made me a better decision-maker."

Judith also offers advice for future students: "School is important, but don’t get so focused on it that you miss out on everything else. Make friends, try new things, and take time for yourself."

Congratulations, Judith, on this well-earned recognition as Student of the Month!
